The 11+ preparation programme is designed for children starting year 5 in September. Places can become available at other times though. It is a programme designed to offer variety and sustainability through to exams in November and January the following year and is a holistic approach. It comprises of
- A package of 1:1 sessions, group sessions, bespoke set work with feedback and parent consultations.
- Varied preparation in line with the individual child’s circumstances and abilities.
- The possibility to leave the programme – or bolt-on extras – each term.
The 11+ preparation programme works on a 4-term basis.
The Introduction: Term 1 (Autumn ’24)
4 x sessions for the child, 4 x set work, 2 parent consultations
- 2 parent consultations. These can include a plan for how families can support the child at home; advice on local schools or educational issues; a roadmap for preparation; and honest feedback. (I have no institutional constraints!)
- 2 x 1:1 tutoring sessions at your house* (45-minute sessions)
- 2 x 1:1 online tutoring sessions (40-minute sessions)
- 4 x bespoke pieces of work designed specifically for your child followed by marking/feedback. Length of task is dependent on child and circumstances.
The Core: Term 2 (Spring 25) & Term 3 (Summer 25).
12 sessions for the child per term, 4 pieces of work per term, 1 parent consultation per term
- 8 x 1-hour small group sessions per term (1-6 children). These sessions focus initially on cognitive (VR/NVR) reasoning. Children will have their own folder and all resources are included.
- 2 x 1:1 tutoring sessions per term at your house* (45-minute session)
- 2 x 1:1 online tutoring sessions per term (40-minute session)
- 4 pieces of bespoke work per term designed specifically for your child to do at home followed by written feedback (or via spoken/video message if preferred). Length of task dependent on child and circumstances.
- 1 x parent consultation to review per term.
The Finale: Term 4 (Autumn 25)
11 sessions for the child, 6 pieces of work, 1 parent consultation
- 8 x 1-hour small group sessions (1-6 children). These sessions will include maths and English alongside reasoning.
- 2 x 1:1 tutoring sessions at your house* (45-minute)
- 1 x online interview practice with feedback
- 6 x bespoke set work with feedback. Dependent on the child, this is likely to be longer and more exam-orientated.
- 1 x parent consultation to include practical exam considerations.
Although I offer specific parent consultations, I am available to talk to you throughout the time your child is with me on the programme. For example, in the past this has included discussion about secondary schools; exam nerves and confidence; how to work with school; or managing extra-curricular demands in the lead-up to exams.
The cost
I continue to be in the fortunate position of being in high demand and believe that I can offer a good service which also offers value for money. Payment for the programme is on a termly basis (1st September, 1st January, 1st May). Term 1 will be at the reduced rate of £225, whilst terms 2, 3 and 4 will be £380/term. You are free to leave the programme at any time, with a notice period of 1 month.
Timing and arrangements
The group sessions are usually 5-6pm on Sundays in Ripley, GU23 during term time. Please see terms and conditions for full details.
Regarding 1:1 sessions, we schedule a mutually convenient time. I propose a choice of several sessions spanning times at the weekend, weekday evenings and holiday time. Please see terms and conditions for full details including for distance travelled*.
