Beyond my blog, these are the ways you can work with me to support your child:
- coaching consultations to support parents
- workshops and small groups for children
- individual tutoring for 9-16 year olds
- bespoke reading and writing packages
- fundraising for educational causes
Coaching or mentoring consultations
A “coaching or mentoring consultation” is where the parent or guardian works with me to support the child. We discuss issues that are specific to you and your child. It can be a relatively small problem… On the other hand it may be a major challenge or working towards a longer-term goal. This can be a cost-effective way of supporting you to support your child. No minimum number of sessions – one-offs available.
Tutoring
Tutoring offers a great opportunity to really work on a child’s individual needs. It can be short-term or long-term and is tailored entirely to your child’s situation and needs. I work with children from 9 years old up to GCSE (English) and up to year 9 (maths).
Creative writing workshops
Workshops for 9-16 year olds. Lots of fun in developing characters, plots, settings and more…Both general writing workshops and those aimed at independent school exam preparation.
11+ programme
A small group programme working in preparation for 11+ independent school exams. Please contact me for further information, to reserve a space or to find out if this group would suit your child.
Bespoke packages
Bespoke reading, writing and revision packages bridge the gap between workbooks and tutoring. They are entirely personal to your child. However, your child can do them at home whenever they like – independently or with your support. I can set tasks to help with secondary school assessments and GCSE revision to include feedback.
Educational charities and fundraising
“By working with me, you are supporting educational charities”
In 2023/24, the chosen charity is Challengers. A percentage of all fees raised during 2023-24 will go to this valued and necessary charity.
Challengers is a charity that gives disabled children and young people the opportunity to play, have fun, and make friends in a safe and supportive environment
In 2022/3, Reading Support at Home donated nearly £800 to Mary’s Meals. It has a remarkably simple approach to enabling poverty-stricken children to go to school: feed them at school. Linking their most basic need with education has amazing results. Mary’s Meals is now feeding 2,279,941 children at school every day.
Our school meals meet the immediate needs of hungry children and encourage them to gain an education.
In 2021/22, Reading Support at Home donated over £600 to the Shannon Trust. Whilst this site focuses on supporting families and children learning to read and write, The Shannon Trust improves adult literacy. It is shocking that 50% of people in prison in the UK have a literacy level below that of an 11 year old. Consequently, the Shannon Trust works with prisoners to improve their literacy. It gives them the potential to set themselves up for a more positive future.
In 2023-24, the charity is Challengers which transforms the lives of disabled children, young people and their families through the power of play.
