Creative writing for exams

Autumn 2023 writing workshops

This writing workshop aims to help prepare children taking independent school exams in Autumn/Winter 2023/24. It will help them to practise their writing in a small group setting and with individual support.

What we will do

We will not sit and write solidly for 2 hours! There will be a number of tasks including looking at a range of exam ‘starters’; brainstorming via practical ‘stations’ to find great vocabulary; and short, timed tasks to practise key skills. The aim is that the workshop will also cover:

  • ideas and strategies to impress
  • common errors
  • tips for proof-reading
  • exam timing and pace
  • personalised feedback

The practical details for the writing workshop

  • 23-27 October (dates tbc, please register interest with availability)
  • Ripley church room, GU23
  • 2 hours, £40 total including resources
  • Maximum 6 children per group. Early booking advised.
  • This workshop is exclusively for children sitting an independent school entrance exam this academic year.
  • Please contact me for a booking form so that I can find out about your child and we can reserve a space.
